A2 Joy Rides - Ann Arbor Chapter of CWA

Mission

Cycling Without Age is a global movement that gives older adults and people with limited mobility the opportunity to experience the freedom, connection and simple joy of cycling- with the help of volunteer “pilots” who pedal specialty designed trishaws. Founded in Denmark in 2012, Cycling Without Age now operates in more than 50 countries, has 3,500 chapters worldwide and has given over 5 million rides to over 1.5 million people.

Each chapter is driven by community spirit, kindness and the belief that everyone – regardless of age or ability – deserves to feel the wind in their hair, a slogan coined by a visually-impaired passenger

We are launching an Ann Arbor chapter of Cycling Without Age!

What We Do

  • Offer free trishaw rides to seniors and others with mobility challenges in our community.

  • Build connections between generations – volunteers and passengers share stories, laughter and friendship.

  • Combat isolation by helping participants reconnect with their neighborhoods and nature.

  • Promote sustainability through clean, human-powered transport

Why It Matters

Loneliness and isolation are serious issues among older adults. A simple ride through the park can brighten someone’s day, spark conversation, and strengthen community bonds. Each ride tells a story  – of freedom, joy and shared humanity.
