Our Progress

Today

Aimee, Hannah, and Megan are the core team working on getting Ann Arbor Joyrides chapter started in Ann Arbor. We have had zoom calls with several successful chapters and have researched how to best buy a bike and get started. We have joined Walk Bike Washtenaw as a “doing business as” nonprofit. Their mission of “making Washtenaw County a national leader in bicycling & walking by improving facilities, policies, & community support through advocacy & education” fits with our vision.

Winter 2026

  • November- Hosted trivia and movie CWA documentary fundraiser at Blom Mead & Cider. Around 30 people in attendance, got our friends more excited about the mission and new bike friends learned about CWA

  • December - Awarded The Sustaining Ann Arbor Together (SA2T) neighborhood grant through the city of Ann Arbor for $10,000! The program promotes and resources community-based activities in support of the City's sustainability and climate action goals. 

  • January-Will place deposit for Gnargo Bike Trishaw with delivery expected by April! Visit to South Lyon Rotary Club for presentation and outreach. Apply to Velo Club and Awesome Foundation $1000 grants for last of bike purchase.

  • February- March- outreach to senior living centers to start organizing rides. Plan CWA “safe routes” for rides and establish insurance. Finalize training manuals and online sign up systems/how to best organize rides

Spring 2026

  • April- CWA documentary showing as part of Ann Arbor Bicycle Film Fest April 18th. Have trishaw at venue for outreach and fundraising

  • May- Train pilots, finish establishing safe routes and sign up system- sign up for first rides.

  • June- Take people out for rides!

Successful Chapters

  • Iowa City Bike Library

    Cycling Without Age at the Bike Library (CWABL) offers e-assisted bike rides through our neighborhoods and nature trails, and the opportunity for passengers to tell their story and build relationships.

  • Cycling Without Age Toledo

    CWA has first bike and trailer, with hopes to add a second bike for next season. CWA Toledo is ran through the Maumee Valley Adventurers, a 501c3 non-profit

  • CWA Rochester Michigan

    We are a new CWA affiliate, formed in late 2019. After delays in 2020 due to the pandemic, we began fundraising for our first trishaw in the spring of 2021. In December, we raised enough funds to order our trishaw, and it was delivered in the spring of 2022.

    We are reaching out to local caregiving facilities to gauge interest in collaboration. We welcome all interested volunteers, as there are many opportunities for service in our organization: piloting, fundraising, outreach, and coordination.
